Fire damages apartment on Oasis Drive

Kern County firefighters put down an apartment fire in the 300 block of Oasis Drive on Sunday.

According to the department, no one was injured during the escape. However, a number of animals perished during the fire, including two dogs, at least one cat and pet rats.

One cat was saved from the fire and was provided oxygen from a firefighter.

Kern County Fire Engine 74 was first on scene, followed by Engines 77 and 73.

According to battalion chief, the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
