Velma is a very gentle and sensitive 3-year-old, 5-pound Chihuahua. She is a real love who wants more than anything to spend her days in the lap of her favorite person. She is a tiny girl with a big heart who will thrive in a quiet home where she is showered with affection. A bit of a couch potato, she is not interested running marathons unless the marathons are bouncing from one warm lap to another. Velma loves other tiny dogs and could probably live peacefully in a home with dog-savvy cats.

Tabitha, a beautiful 6-month-old cat who has been patiently awaiting her forever home since September, is all dressed up with no place to go for the holidays. Her adoption is free. With her sleek fur, and enigmatic grace she has a feline energy that calls to mind the cat goddesses of ancient Egypt. This lovely cat will do well in most homes with time to adjust. Tabitha is a playful and energetic young cat who loves to tackle toy mice and stuffed rats and drag her toy rodents into a corner to add to her collection. This playful cat can be shy of new people and situations, but give her a toy to play with and she’ll quickly come out of her shell. She’s more interested in playing than snuggling, but as she grows she’ll probably mellow out and spend more time calmly hanging around her people. Tabitha has met dogs of all sizes and would probably be OK living side-by-side with them.

Cat adoption hours are 12-4 p.m. Fridays and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays; dog adoption hours are noon-4 p.m. Wednesday to Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Berkeley East Bay Humane Society, 2700 Ninth St. For more details call 510-845-3633, ext. 25.
