1. Hudson County featured on new TV show ‘Urban Animals’

A feral cat trapping program in Union City, a family of peregrine falcons that nest under a bridge in Secaucus and a Jersey City woman who has a playpen for her pet rats are just some of the locals who will be featured in “Urban Animals.” The TV show airs Tuesdays and Saturdays at 11:30 a.m. on the NYC Life channel.

2. Recyclables not picked up in Bayonne during contract transition

On Thursday, the day before new contracts for recycling and garbage pickups took effect, recyclables were not picked up on “many streets” between 1st and 16th streets, sparking complaints from residents, city spokesman Joe Ryan said.

3. New upscale buildings going up in Downtown Jersey City

SILVERMAN, run by brothers Paul and Eric, is developing two new upscale buildings–Charles Co. on Grove Street and Two Ten Ninth Street. Both are expected to be mixed-use buildings with both retail and residential space.

4. Big events in Hudson County this week

5. Funeral held for Jersey City couple killed by tornado

Hundreds of family members and friends of Lord Balatbat and Lolibeth Ortega, the Jersey City couple killed July 24 when a tornado hit their Virginia campsite, filled Our Lady of Mercy Church on Sullivan Drive on Saturday to say their final goodbyes.
