On 26 November 2011, the Australian Cavy Sanctuary (ACS) is holding its annual “Pignic in the Park”! This popular family event, now in its fifth year running, aims to raise awareness of the important work of the Australian Cavy Sanctuary and other animal welfare issues, while at the same time raising much needed funds for the animals in the organisation’s care.

The Pignic will be held at Teralba Park on the corner of Pullen and Osborne Roads, Everton Park from 10 am until 3 pm. In past years the event has attracted 1000s of local and interstate guests and animal lovers. Big name animal welfare organisations including the RSPCA, Oscar’s Law and Animal Liberation QLD will also attend, and with a fantastic line-up of other stalls as well, food, and entertainment, this is an event not to be missed!

Event highlight: On the day there will be the traditional Pignic on the park where members of the public are invited to bring their Guinea Pigs, family and a picnic blanket to join in the fun. In previous years hundreds of small pets have come to the event with their families. Please visit the event website for guinea pig/pet health and safety guidelines and further information. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash and watched by their owner at all times. Pet rats and mice are also welcome!
