A PET owl has gone missing from a home in Hertford Heath.

The adult eagle owl escaped from its owner’s property in Trinity Road at 8am today (January 22).

A Herts police spokeswoman said: “It’s got two pieces of leather tied to its feet and it can’t move them far apart. It might get stuck in a tree.

“The owner thinks it’s going to get very hungry and they are worried it might attack a fox or a pet cat.

“It’s not likely to attack humans. It normally eats rats and mice.”

The bird is 1ft (0.3m) tall with a 6ft (1.8m) wing span.

Anyine who sees it should call the police on the non-emergency number 101.
