We usually let are rats to run around the house ,at first they would hide for hours but know they love it and are very social . we just pick up anything they can do ,close bedroom bathrooms doors and then just let them go free for a hours

I love my rats got them the tuseday before christmas 2011
But they dont like to play games very much. What should i do?

    • They have to get used to you, keep handling them and call them by their name. Also keep trying to get them to play with you…they will eventually get the hint, they are very smart creatures.

It’s a good idea to set up a table for them. I have a folding card table. I don’t know about all rats, but my 2 won’t jump down from high places. They get to the edge of the table and don’t jump down. You can play with them on the table with lots of different objects for them to investigate. Rats love to investigate new things, so I find different things for them to play with regularly. It can be pretty much anything, one of my girls loves pieces of paper napkin, another loves wash cloths. As long as it isn’t something toxic or sharp you can give them anything. Rats are very curious and love new things that they haven’t seen before. I just remembered, one of my girls loves to chase drips of water. You can use a container with a spout to drip little bits of water from up high and they’ll chase it and play.

You could get the more toys, or you could make a play pen for them made of something they can chew threw. You could also make/get a harness and walk them around.

Yes, I agree with the bathroom suggestion. My rats love the bathroom (I leave toilet paper rolls out for them to shred >.< ) Also, I use my bed. BUT, you have to be prepared to change your sheets alot if they're not litter box trained. Any spare rooms in your house that can be rat proofed?

How long have you had the rats?
You need to give them time to settle in before over whelming them in a new environment.
Dapper Rat has some wonderful ideas for keeping curious rats busy, while having fun. http://www.dapper.com.au/toys.htm
I have three girls of my own.

Can you use the bathroom? Bathrooms are usually the easiest place to rat-proof and also the surfaces are easiest to clean and disinfect.
