The Concordville-Chadds Ford Rotary Club Student of the Month program recognizes outstanding students from Garnet Valley High School who excel in both school performance and community volunteer activity.  This month’s student winners are juniors Katelin Stroup and Michael Selverian.

Katelin Stroup is the daughter of Rick and Vanessa Stroup of Garnet Valley.  She lives with her two older brothers and her twin sister.

An active member of the Garnet Valley High School sports world, Katelin plays field hockey and lacrosse for the school. Kate’s favorite part of sports participation is the opportunity to meet and interact with other people. She carries that trait in her daily life by being a member of Peer Pals.

Katelin considers herself a little “off-beat” in some of her choices; for instance, in caring for her four pet rats which she admits are “really different” from having the typical dog or cat.

Her future plans include going to college to study Veterinary Technology.  She would also like to continue to play lacrosse.

Michael has served as the Class of 2012 Vice President since his freshman year and is a member of the Future Business Leaders of America organization.

Part of the Garnet Valley School District sports scene, Mike plays on the men’s Varsity Ice Hockey and Lacrosse teams.

He attends St. Gregory’s Armenian Church of Philadelphia where he is an alter server and participates in the church’s community service activities with his brothers Stephen and Max and his sister, Jennifer.  Michael enjoys cooking, traveling, wakeboarding, surfing, and FIFA II.  Continued…
