Comedy Pet Theatre to open Clark Center season

A family-oriented blend of comedy and acrobatic skills of Gregory Popovich and more than two dozen performing pets will open the Clark Center for the Performing Arts 2013-14 season with two shows Saturday, Oct. 19.

The World Famous Gregory Popovich Comedy Pet Theater, featuring 16 cats and 10 dogs rescued from animal shelters across the country, will take the Forbes Hall stage at 2 and 7 p.m.

“I have actually nicknamed my show ‘A Second Chance’ because that is what my kitty cats and dogs have been given — a second chance at life,” Popovich said.

Throughout the performance, audiences will witness acts dubbed “The Dog Classroom,” “The Amazing Housecats” and “The Animal Train.”

Other acts include surprise appearances from more animal performers, including ferrets, white rats and trained doves, a Clark Center spokesman said.

Following the matinee performance, the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society will have dogs available for adoption.

Tickets for Comedy Pet Theater at $25 to $39 are going fast, so those planning to attend should buy tickets soon, the spokesman said.

Tickets are available by calling 489-9444 or visiting www.clarkcenter.org.
